Worker Hurls Knife at Boss Over Clock-Out Order

A 20-year-old Chipotle employee in South Miami threw a knife and glass bottles at his manager after being told to clock out, then threatened to kill him, according to Miami-Dade police.

Levar Walker now faces one felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and three misdemeanor counts including battery, assault, and criminal mischief. He remains in Miami-Dade County custody.

What Allegedly Happened at the South Miami Location

The incident unfolded at the Chipotle restaurant on South Dixie Highway when Walker’s manager instructed him to end his shift. Instead of complying, Walker allegedly armed himself with a kitchen knife and hurled it at his supervisor, according to arrest documents.

Walker then grabbed glass bottles and threw those as well before verbally threatening to kill the manager, police said. The attack occurred inside the restaurant during business operations.

Charges Carry Serious Prison Time

The aggravated assault charge represents a third-degree felony in Florida, punishable by up to five years in state prison. The designation of “deadly weapon” elevates what might otherwise be simple assault to a far more serious charge with mandatory sentencing guidelines.

The misdemeanor battery and assault charges each carry potential jail time up to one year, while the criminal mischief count suggests property damage occurred during the confrontation.

Workplace Violence on the Rise

The case adds to mounting concerns about worker safety in the restaurant industry, where de-escalation training often lags behind the reality of high-stress, low-pay environments. Fast food managers increasingly report verbal threats and physical confrontations over scheduling disputes, customer complaints, and performance issues.

Miami-Dade County court records show Walker’s next hearing has not yet been scheduled. Chipotle corporate headquarters has not commented on the incident or whether the restaurant has modified its security protocols.

The manager’s condition and whether he required medical treatment has not been disclosed by authorities.
