Education Dept Creates Opt-Out Learning Pods for Students

WASHINGTON — The Department of Education announced Thursday a groundbreaking new initiative requiring all American public schools to offer “neutral learning pods” where students can opt out of being taught any subjects their parents find “emotionally challenging.”

The Safe Space Academic Choice Program (SSACP) will mandate that every K-12 school maintain at least one classroom where students can spend their day in what officials describe as “consequence-free educational limbo.”

“We’ve heard from parents across the political spectrum that they’re concerned about what their children are learning,” said Education Secretary Amanda Whitfield at a press conference. “Some don’t want evolution taught. Others object to certain historical events being discussed. We realized the only fair solution is to let students learn nothing at all if their parents prefer.”

Under the new federal guidelines, parents can submit an unlimited number of Educational Exemption Forms citing any subject matter they believe might cause their child “intellectual discomfort.” Approved exemptions include mathematics (“promotes objective truth culture”), history (“may contain upsetting facts”), literature (“exposes children to ideas”), and physical education (“body fascism”).

Students assigned to neutral learning pods will spend six hours per day in beige-painted rooms with no books, screens, or educational materials of any kind. They will be supervised by Certified Non-Teaching Facilitators who have been instructed to respond to all questions with “that’s an interesting thought” while making no eye contact.

“My son came home talking about photosynthesis and I just wasn’t ready for that conversation,” said parent Jennifer Morrison of Oklahoma. “Now he can go to school and learn absolutely nothing, which is what education should be about—keeping kids safe from information.”

The program is expected to cost taxpayers $47 billion annually, with schools required to convert at least 30% of existing classroom space into neutral pods by the 2027 school year. Early projections suggest that by 2030, these pods may house upward of 60% of American students.
